Hello my fellow readers! I’m Jamie Lapeyrolerie and I am an Editor at WaterBrook and Multnomah (after starting out in Marketing). I edit nonfiction, fiction, and illustrated gifts. I love working with authors to make their manuscripts the best they can be. My personal reading tastes are all over the map, but historical fiction is a go-to. I was introduced to Chanel Cleeton through Next Year in Havana and became an instant fan. I really enjoyed this one because so much of real life was tied into the story, and I learned more about the tangled history of Cuba, Spain, and the U.S. She draws you into each character’s life and it’s an incredible story of what so many experienced during the battle for Cuban independence.

The Wager
by David Grann
Do I love the ocean while also being simultaneously terrified of it? Yes. But I can’t stop reading ship-related stories. While listening to this book on audio, I probably had a horrified look on my face the whole time listening to the men’s experiences and their fight for survival. But a fascinating tale the whole way through.
