About the Author

MARA ROCKLIFF is the author of many lively historical books for children, including Mesmerized: How Ben Franklin Solved a Mystery That Baffled All of France, winner of the Cook Prize and an Orbis Pictus Honor Book. Her newest titles are Lights! Camera! Alice! The Thrilling True Adventures of the First Woman Filmmaker, called “Subtly STEM, fun, and beautiful to look at” in a starred review from School Library Journal, and Born to Swing: Lil Hardin Armstrong’s Life in Jazz, among other books. R. GREGORY CHRISTIE has illustrated more than fifty books for young adults and children, including Freedom in Congo Square by Carole Boston Weatherford, which was awarded a Caldecott Honor. His most recent work, Memphis, Martin, and the Mountaintop by Alice Faye Duncan, has received five starred reviews. He has also received two New York Times Best Illustrated Book awards, three Coretta Scott King Honors for illustration, the NAACP’s Image Award, the Boston GlobeHorn Book Award, and the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award.
