The Kiss Quotient
by Helen Hoang
One word: steamy!! This is one I recommend for those in a reading (or life) rut, as I go back to it every time I need a reminder as to why the romance genre is so good. Helen Hoang has a masterpiece with this one, and you’ll be blushing for all the right reasons.

The Nickel Boys
by Colson Whitehead
If you haven’t already heard of Colson Whitehead, two-time Pulitzer winner, stop what you’re doing right now and pick up this book. This heartbreaking story follows two boys who were unjustly sentenced to a reform school in Florida in the 1960s. It was based on a real reform school, which makes it a more devastating, but necessary read. It is a book that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

Sabrina & Corina
by Kali Fajardo-Anstine
Short stories! So underrated! What is so special about Kali’s writing is both the sense of place and the way these stories are weaved into each other. It was so moving to see myself, as a Latinx woman, represented in relationships that revolve around mother and daughters and friendships. Can’t recommend this one enough.

Here for It: A Read with Jenna Pick
by R. Eric Thomas
Do you need to laugh? Do you also need to reflect with what is going on in the world at the moment? This one is for you. R. Eric Thomas puts you in scenes in his life vividly that it makes you want to reach out and hug him at any given time. You will fall head over heels for the way he grows throughout the book and the way he’ll make you laugh when you’re least expecting it. I recommend checking out the audiobook for this one!
