Hey there, book lovers, allow me to introduce myself! My name is Carla Iannone. I am a 90’s wild child, a fellow Leo (if you’re into astrology like me!), a rescue dog mom, a major chocolate chip enthusiast, mental health advocate, and last, but not least, a Social Media and Marketing Coordinator at Avery and TarcherPerigee. An all-time favorite of mine. It is both heartwarming and tear-jerking, admirably frustrating and incredibly satisfying. As a born and raised New Yorker, 9/11 as an opening setting had hit home. So, right off the bat, it took me for a ride on an emotional rollercoaster and down memory lane. However, the timing is just one small element to a larger story that you will never forget. Get your Kleenex ready.

The Last Time I Lied

I have read many thrillers where the endings were a disappointment. This is not one of them. This book tossed me up, down, and all around. I honestly had not a clue of where it was leading and was blown away by the ending. It pulled me in from the very beginning and I could not put it down until I knew…knew everything! This is no lie.

Me Before You
by Jojo Moyes
It’s been a few years, but if you have or haven’t seen the movie, I recommend reading the book in any case. Although I love Emilia Clark and Sam Claflin, this is one of those cases where the book is WAY better than the film. Jojo Moyes is so detail-oriented and portrays her characters so, so well. It’s an incredible story that takes you on a journey of love and pain. I laughed. I cried. I cried, again. And I loved it as much as Louisa loves her bumblebee-striped stockings.

This book truly hit me and will strike anyone straight to the heart. Now, we’ve all learned about the Holocaust in history class, but I can personally say that I have never felt more connected and enlightened than after reading this book and you will, too. Based on true events, this fictionalized story is heartbreakingly beautiful and one everyone should read.
