    PRH Pilots Diversity Library Program in Ten Title One High Schools Across NYC

    As we continue to support diversity and inclusion, Penguin Random House is piloting a Diversity Library program with ten Title One high schools from across New York City’s five boroughs. Each institution selected to be part of the program will receive a total of 20 titles by diverse authors geared towards high-school-aged students, published by Random House Children’s Books and Penguin Young Readers imprints. The books will become a part of the schools’ libraries.

    NEWS Ekpe Udoh – NBA Player, Passionate Reader, Book Club Founder – Visits Penguin Random House

    Basketball and book clubs? Not a common combination, but an important one to Ekpe Udoh. A professional player for the National Basketball Association’s Utah Jazz, Mr. Udoh is a voracious reader and has his own book club, which attracted the interest of Michelle Obama earlier this year. “Do I get a vote?” Mrs. Obama tweeted to Mr. Udoh’s request for help choosing his next book.

    Christopher Myers Accepts the 2019 Children’s Literature Legacy Award for his Father, Walter Dean Myers

    Walter Dean Myers is the posthumous recipient of the 2019 Children’s Literature Legacy Award honoring an author or illustrator, published in the United States, whose books have made a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children. His numerous and award-winning works include “Fast Sam, Cool Clyde, and Stuff” (Viking, 1975) and “On a Clear Day” (Ember, 2015).

    PRH and WNDB Announce 2019 Creative Writing Awards Winners

    The winners of the 2019 Creative Writing Awards have been announced by Penguin Random House, in partnership with We Need Diverse Books (WNDB), a national grassroots organization that advocates for diversity in children’s literature. Now in its twenty-sixth year, the competition for the first time was expanded beyond greater New York to become a nationwide search, awarding scholarships and other resources that will recognize and encourage the next generation of talented writers.
