    Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka’s First Novel in 48 Years Coming From Pantheon in September 2021

    Pantheon Books will publish a new novel by the African writer, Nobel Laureate and political activist Wole Soyinka on September 28, 2021. The book, CHRONICLES FROM THE LAND OF THE HAPPIEST PEOPLE ON EARTH, will be Soyinka’s first novel to be published in nearly fifty years.

    Watch Video: President Barack Obama Surprises CPS High School Students with Free Access to A PROMISED LAND

    On Monday, November 23, Chicago Public Schools CEO Dr. Janice K. Jackson joined President Barack Obama as he surprised CPS high school students in a virtual assembly to announce that all CPS high school students have received free access to digital copies of A PROMISED LAND, President Obama’s riveting, deeply personal account of history in the making during his time in office. All CPS high school students were invited to tune-in to the live stream with hundreds of students participating in the Zoom call.

    2020 NBA Ceremony Report, Complete PRH NBA Winners List

    We were wearing sweatpants, rather than tuxedos. Watching from the couch or home work station, not seated with our colleagues and authors at elegant dinner tables. And eating home cooking or takeout, instead of Cipriani Wall Street’s fine cuisine. This year’s National Book Awards ceremony, which took place the evening of Wednesday, November 18, was like no other before it. Its goal, to announce its five-member judging panels’ choices for 2020’s “best” books in five literary categories, was met virtually, without the customary roomful of cheers and applause.

    Miller Wins 2020 Dayton Literary Peace Prize for Nonfiction, Atwood Distinguished Achievement Award

    Winners of this year’s Dayton Literary Peace Prize have been announced, with the nonfiction award going to Viking author Chanel Miller for her memoir, KNOW MY NAME, earning a $10,000 cash prize. Nan A. Talese/Doubleday author Margaret Atwood received the 2020 Ambassador Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award, named in honor of the diplomat who helped negotiate the Dayton Peace Accords in 1995.

    From civil rights activist and icon Ruby Bridges comes a powerful new book, THIS IS YOUR TIME, published by Delacorte Press today, November 10. This is the first book from Bridges in over twenty years and was released just a few days prior to the sixtieth anniversary of her becoming the first Black student to attend the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans on November 14, 1960, as a six-year-old.
